And he is even set to wear the number 14 shirt vacated by Thierry Henry according to reports in The Sun.

Barcelona had agreed a £15m deal of their own for Palacio just days before learing Henry was available - they then moved to clich their long-time target.

Boca had been holding out for a big offer and now that has been met, the striker who played in last night's 3-0 Copa America final defeat to Brazil is set to come to England.

Arsenal's previous record signing was Sylvain Wiltord - £12.5m - in 2000.
