The Upton Park club are in talks with car giant Ford about buying their sports ground at Rush Green, although a West Ham spokesman said today: "There are other options. We hope a decision will be made by the end of this month."

The Ford site remains first option, though. It includes six pitches, floodlights and a grandstand.

Meanwhile, the East London club, have announced that they will play an MLS all-star team which could include David Beckham, in Toronto on Thursday 24 July.

West Ham will also play another pre-season match in the United States and chief executive Scott Duxbury said: "We are increasing our international exposure and helping the game develop at grassroots level in North America."
