Collins: Staying at the Boleyn Ground

have refused permission to take defender James Collins on loan this season.

The Premier League new boys had hoped to sign the Wales international on a short-term deal, with the option to make the switch to the Hawthorns permanent.

However, West Ham manager Alan Curbishley has assured Collins he features in his first-team plans this season.

With australian right-back Lucas Neill still a target for Manchester City, Curbishley is unwilling to allow any of his defenders to leave.
