Hammers skipper Neill hopes for Pompey hangover

West Ham captain Lucas Neill hopes Portsmouth will have an FA Cup hangover when they travel to Upton Park next week. Pompey take on Coca-Cola Championship side West Brom in the semi-finals at Wembley on Saturday before returning to Barclays Premier League action in east London on Tuesday.

Hammers defender Neill believes Harry Redknapp's men could be "off guard" when they travel to Upton Park.

"Obviously all their focus will be on that FA Cup game," said the Australian.

"Maybe we can catch them off guard, on an off day where their focus is elsewhere. Either way it's a game at home and we want to win."

George McCartney could struggle to maintain his ever-present record because of a hamstring injury.

The Northern Ireland international defender limped off in the defeat at Sunderland and now faces a race against time to be fit.

"I've been carrying the injury for the last four or five weeks, but things just came to a head on Saturday," he said.
