Harris crusade may not be over as Bridgend calls

Iestyn Harris expects this year to be his swansong as a player in rugby league's Super League but there may well be one more chorus.

'I am 32 this year and getting to the stage when I want to go into coaching', said the dual-code Wales international stand off, who is in the final year of his contract with Bradford Bulls.

However, an intriguing avenue could open up the possibility of another year as a Super League player for Harris.

Celtic Crusaders, based in Bridgend, are bidding for a Super League franchise for next year when the league is expected to expand from 12 to 14 clubs.

Harris said: 'I would love to be involved with the first Super League club in Wales.

'It would be a massive coup for the RFL to admit the Crusaders because they are in the right spot with good backers and a good fan base.'
