Hart backs himself at Man City despite Hughes' keeper hunt

Since signing from Shrewsbury Town, Hart has been a revelation for Man City

Joe Hart insists he does not feel threatened by Mark Hughes’ attempts to sign an experienced goalkeeper.

Hart, 21, is believed to have held talks with the new boss after it emerged Hughes tried to sign his former Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel from under the noses of Aston Villa.

But Hart, who made his England debut in the 3-0 over Trinidad and Tobago last month, said: ‘Whoever they bring in, I’d back myself.

‘We’ve got a lot more money now so we’ll be able to bring in better goalkeepers, but the whole point of being in this position is that you’ve got to believe in yourself and that’s what I do.’
