Hartson released by West Brom

West Brom have released former Wales international striker John Hartson.

Hartson, who joined the club from Celtic in the summer of 2006, had fallen out of favour at The Hawthorns and failed to make an appearance for the Coca-Cola Championship leaders this season.

The 32-year-old has not featured in Tony Mowbray's squad since a 1-0 home win over Cardiff on February 20.

Hartson joined Norwich on a month's loan in October as he tried to fashion a move away from the midlands club, but the Canaries did not follow up their interest.

Hartson scored six goals, including two on his debut in a 2-0 victory over Hull, in 24 appearances for Albion.
