Harvey gutted after sudden-death blow

Michael Harvey's brave fightback came to nothing as he was beaten in his first contest in the men's 58kg taekwondo by Mexico's Guillermo Perez.

The 18-year-old from Manchester recovered from a two-point deficit going into the third round to force an extra fourth round of sudden death overtime.

But the judges scored in favour of the Mexican, meaning Harvey must hope Perez advances all the way to the final in order to get a second chance in tonight's repechage.

Harvey said: "He was there to be beaten and I'm a bit gutted."
