Hatton confident he's spotted a weakness after watching Mayweather on TV

Ricky Hatton has been buoyed by TV images of Floyd Mayweather preoccupied with recurring problems to his brittle hands and training in the "comfort zone" in the build-up to their welterweight world title fight in Las Vegas.

After watching footage of his American opponent in training, Hatton believes he has spotted a weakness.

Hatton: 'The more I watch, the more it fills me with confidence'

He said: "The more I watch, the more it fills me with confidence. I like watching his pad work because although it shows off his hand speed, I think there's a lot of training in the comfort zone there.

"He's just hitting the bag and pad very, very lightly with very little power."

Scenes of him receiving treatment on his right hand indicated that Mayweather is being hampered by the hand problems which have always dogged his career.

Hatton said: "The trouble has arisen with his hands again - it's common knowledge that he's got bad hands - but I can only concern myself about my own preparations. If you wanted to be a cynic, you'd say if you'd got an injury you'd want to hide the fact, so why is he telling everyone?

"If I win, I'd hate to think he'd turn around and say he got beat because he'd got bad hands."
