Hearts may look to share Easter Road with Edinburgh rivals Hibernian

Hearts are looking at the possibility of groundsharing with capital rivals Hibs during construction of a new main stand at Tynecastle.

In a questionnaire sent out to more than 6,000 fans, Gorgie officials have asked fans to select their preferred ground from a choice of Easter Road, Murrayfield, East End Park and Almondvale.

Planning permission for the proposed £51million project, which includes building apartments, office space and banqueting facilities, is expected to arrive at Edinburgh City Council next week.

Hearts will be building a new main stand at Tynecastle

Remaining at a reduced-capacity Tynecastle while work is carried out is also an option for the club.

Demolition of the current main stand could start next season and leave Hearts seeking groundshare options for two years.

A club spokesperson said: "We are still at an early stage in the election of any possible alternative venue for Hearts during construction phase.

"We are undertaking our largest-ever supporter survey and we will listen to fans' views on temporary stadium relocation."
