Henman reveals: I've only played tennis three times since retiring

England's former Wimbledon hopeful Tim Henman has revealed he has only played tennis three times since his retirement.

Henman, who hung up his tennis shoes last September, is set to join the BBC Wimbledon commentary team later this month.

But he said he was more inclined to play golf since his last professional match at the Davis Cup last year.

In the swing of it: Retired Tim Henman prefers playing golf to tennis.

The 33-year-old father-of-three told the Radio Times that retirement had "been fantastic".

He said: "I never envisaged how much I'd enjoy just being at home, with the kids, playing loads of golf.

"My life on the tour was very structured. All of a sudden I get to fill my own diary, and it's just a revelation getting to do trivial things like the school run or waking up in my own bed - I am so busy doing nothing.

"I've picked up a tennis racquet literally three times in eight months.

"I've realised I've hit enough tennis balls to last me a lifetime."

The former British number one will join Sue Barker, John Inverdale, John McEnroe and Boris Becker to commentate at Wimbledon over two weeks.

He said of sometimes being portrayed as boring: "No-one knew the real me. When
I'm working in front of the camera, you'll see me in a different light.

"People will be surprised to learn that I've got a sense of humour."
