Henry: I won't quit international football after France misery at Euro 2008

Thierry Henry has insisted he won't quit international football despite France crashing out of Euro 2008.

Their 2-0 defeat on Tuesday put the seal on a miserable tournament for the World Cup finalists.

But former Arsenal great Henry, who will be 31 in August, has decided to carry on until the next World Cup in two years.

He said: “This defeat doesn’t change my future.

“Quitting the national team went through my head but I know what is going to happen now.

“We win or lose all together. It’s not only the manager’s problem, even if I know lots of people will talk about him. We had the same manager in the 2006 World Cup final.”

Claims of unrest in the France camp are widespread, with Patrick Vieira and Patrice Evra grappling in the tunnel after the defeat against Holland.

And coach Raymond Domenech has brought scorn on himself with his bizarre proposal to his TV presenter girlfriend after Tuesday's match.

And Henry admitted in the Sun: “We have some regrets. The penalty and the sending off are the main ones.

“We were only 10 and it was really hard for us.

“Once again, we lacked a bit of luck with the second goal on a deflected shot. We gave everything but it was a weird game.

“Starting a game with Ribery’s injury and then a penalty and a sending off, it becomes Mission: Impossible.

“It’s a failure. To lose in the final or the group stages is the same. Now, there will be some questions to ask.”
