Henry makes his mark

Thierry Henry scored his first goal for Barcelona in their 3-0 win over Lyon last night in Group E of the Champions League.

Henry slotted in a rebound in the last minute to round off the comprehensive victory after a Francois Clerc own goal and a Lionel Messi strike.

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard praised Henry, saying: "I'm happy for the three goals and it gives me great pleasure that Henry scored. He worked hard."

Henry, Messi and Ronaldinho formed the attack, but although they controlled the game early on, they lacked the clinical touch of Samuel Eto'o in the opening 20 minutes. However, Messi then beat a defender and his centre forced Lyon defender Clerc to put through his own net in the 22nd minute.

Barcelona were never troubled before Messi effectively sealed the win in the 82nd minute after accepting a pass from Andres Iniesta. Henry's late goal added the coup de grace.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi said: "It was a great victory against a great team. We have a lot of players who want to go out and play and will always do well when given the chance."
