Hero Crouch doubles up

Peter Crouch's extra-time double sent Portsmouth into the UEFA Cup group stages — but Guimaraes were fuming that Lassana Diarra escaped a second red card in two games.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder, sent off against Tottenham on Sunday, aimed a retaliatory kick at the Portuguese side's defender Andrezhino.

Coach Manuel Cajuda said: "It was a clear red-card offence. If he had been sent off it'd have made a big difference."

Harry Redknapp's team won 4-2 on aggregate after the Portuguese side had scored twice in 90 minutes to turn round a 2-0 first leg deficit.
