Hicks unveils his vision of the future: Liverpool's new 71,000-seater, £300m stadium
25 January 2008
Liverpool have unveiled a revised design for its planned new stadium, a day after its American owners reportedly secured a refinancing package to keep the Premier League club in their hands
The sleek, asymmetrical design originally unveiled in July 2007 was scrapped last month because of rising costs. The new plan is for a 71,000-capacity stadium.

Home from home: How the new Liverpool stadium will look
The club have announced that Dallas-based architects HKS have won the battle to build the club's new £300million Stanley Park stadium.
HKS produced the original designs for the 71,000-capacity arena which were rejected by co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett late last year when they ran £50million over budget.
But after revising those plans, and beating off Manchester-based AFL's rival bid, the American company will get the contract for the new ground.

A different angle: The new Liverpool stadium from above
Hicks said: "Liverpool supporters should have high expectations for the future: a premier sporting experience at their new stadium at Stanley Park and a winning club on the pitch for years to come."
The move follows weeks of speculation that the two would sell the club to Dubai-based consortium DIC, which lost out to Hicks and Gillett last year.
Fans have been turning against the American owners in the power struggle with popular manager Rafa Benitez over player transfers and the admission by Hicks they had sought out Jurgen Klinsmann as a possible replacement in November.
