Hot-shot Terry shows strikers how to hit the spot as Chelsea attempt to rebuild broken spirit

John Terry took the Chelsea players on a team bonding session yesterday in a clear attempt to rebuild shattered morale.

The skipper was the big shot as he led the squad on a day out paintballing in Surrey - just as he had done 15 months ago. But there were two notable absentees - manager Avram Grant and first-team coach Henk Ten Cate.

Terry is ready to pounce

Chelsea's squad have been involved in a number of tense meetings this week designed to iron out the problems at the club, particularly in the wake of their Carling Cup Final defeat by London rivals Tottenham.

Owner Roman Abramovich has held crisis talks with players but has left them in no doubt that Grant remains manager for the time being.

Chelsea also went paintballing in 2006

While yesterday's paintballing certainly lightened the mood, Terry is hoping that the overall benefit of the day out will be to get minds focused again on the challenges ahead.

Chelsea travel to West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday and entertain Olympiacos in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final four days later.
