Huizenga: Dolphins malaise stops with me

Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga claims the buck stops with him when it comes to his franchise's winless season so far.

The Dolphins have lost all seven of their regular season NFL matches so far heading into this weekend's clash with New York Giants at Wembley and a rash of injuries have denied coach Cam Cameron of several of his starters including veteran quarterback Trent Green, running back Ronnie Brown and, the latest loss, 12th-year linebacker Zach Thomas.

Blame me: Wayne Huizenga

But Huizenga is not interested in offering excuses for their dismal campaign so far.

He said: "I'm not using injuries as an excuse because we started badly before we had injuries."

And instead of putting the blame on first-year coach Cameron, Huizenga has looked to shoulder some of the burden.

He said: "I do realise that we're winless and where that starts is right here. I'm the owner, the buck has got to stop someplace and it might as well stop right here with me.

"Do I like it that we're winless?. No, I don't like that at all. The team doesn't like it, the coaches don't like it, the players don't like it, the fans don't like it, but I'll take the responsibility."

But despite their poor form so far Huizenga insists the team are "sticking together" to try and get rid of the zero in the win column - with Wembley Stadium as good a place as any for the struggling Dolphins.

"No-one is down on each other," he continued.

"Coach (Cameron) has done a great job of keeping everybody together, all positive, and you heard the players - we want to win."
