The Premiership new boys are keen to offer Nugent a top-flight lifeline but the striker will have to take a wage cut for the move to go ahead.

David Nugent could be making his way to Hull City

Tigers manager Phil Brown is keen to bring the Portsmouth and England striker to the KC Stadium and Pompey chief Harry Redknapp is happy to sell him to raise funds.

But Brown is only interested in paying Nugent £20,000 a week and not the £35,000 a week he currently earns at Portsmouth, according to The Sun.

Nugent joined Pompey last summer in a £6million move from Preston North End but has failed to make an impact in the top-flight.
