Hull hoping to keep Campbell despite Manchester United's 5m offer
03 June 2008
Manchester United have put a £5million price tag on the head of Fraizer Campbell but Hull City are still hoping to sign the young striker who helped fire them to promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
Campbell has returned to Old Trafford after a year long loan spell with the Tigers as manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to keep hold of the 20-year-old, according to The Daily Mirror.
Future is orange: Frazier Campbell celebrates Hull City's promotion to the Premeir League.
But Hull want to put down a down payment and pay United bonuses up to £5m or even take Campbell on loan for a year - at a huge rental cost that would come off the eventual fee in a full-time transfer.
The Tigers have been linked with other strikers - notably David Nugent of Portsmouth - but manager Phil Brown believes getting Campbell could be the difference between them staying up and going down.
