Hull KR study fracas footage

Hull KR are studying video footage of the crowd disturbances which marred the 201st Humberside derby.

The club have vowed to ban any fan they identify as having been involved in the pitch invasion after the game at Craven Park yesterday.

Trouble started when Hull FC fans came onto the pitch to celebrate their side's 30-20 success over their rivals, a move which prompted Rovers fans to follow them onto the field.

Stewards were able to bring the crowd under control as fans clashed but there were unconfirmed reports that Hull centre Kirk Yeaman was assaulted in the fracas.

Rovers chief executive Paul Lakin said: "It is obviously very disappointing that after another exciting derby match fans encroached onto the pitch despite repeated announcements not to do so.

"Both clubs are determined that the minority of fans who were involved in any incidents after the game, will be fully investigated and banned accordingly.

"I have today received full video footage of the fans encroaching onto the pitch, this will be further supported by reports from the safety officer and matchday police commander, and I would also encourage any fans that have further evidence to bring this to the attention of the club.

"I would like to further add whilst in no way is it acceptable for fans to enter onto the pitch, the vast majority had no intention of doing so in any aggressive nature, and that the pitch was subsequently cleared in a quick and effective manner."

It has been estimated around 350 fans made it onto the pitch and Hull FC have also vowed to take a firm line with any of their fans that can be identified.

Hull chief executive James Rule said: "We will be carrying out a full and thorough investigation to see what happened and one thing you can be sure of, if we deem it appropriate on the outcome of the investigation then fans from both clubs will be banned from Craven Park and the KC Stadium for life."

The Rugby Football League are also carrying out an investigation in co-operation with both clubs.

Humberside Police have confirmed four people were issued with fixed-penalty notices at the match, three of them for public order offences and the other for urinating, but are currently undertaking no further action.
