Humble Scolari says his Chelsea will not have Mourinho's arrogance

Luiz Felipe Scolari has vowed to turn his back on the arrogance which epitomised Jose Mourinho's reign at .

But the former Brazil and Portugal manager has made it clear it could take up to 50 years for the club to achieve world status currently enjoyed by rivals such as Manchester United and Barcelona.

Tasked with bringing the kind of success Chelsea enjoyed under Mourinho,Scolari is adamant his modest character could not be further removed from the manager who famously dubbed himself  'a special one' upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge four years ago.

'I am not Jose Mourinho so why compare me with him?' asked Scolari. 'Mourinho says "I will win ten championships". I don't say I will win ten. I say I will try.

'I am from South Brazil, we are different. But in my culture I never say "I will win this, this or that". I am more modest.

'Maybe Mourinho says "I win" and afterwards if he does not win it causes problems because the manager is not playing. It's the players and if they make a mistake you then have to say "It is the players who are bad".

'I will never do that. Never. You are the man who must take responsibility.'

Mourinho brought two Premier League titles, two Carling Cups and the FA Cup to Stamford Bridge and Scolari claimed he has the tools to mount a challenge on four fronts this season.

But he knows no matter what success he may enjoy this season it will be a long job to take the club to the levels of popularity enjoyed by the established European powerhouses despite chief executive Peter Kenyon aiming to make Chelsea the biggest club in the world by 2014.

'I want to make Chelsea loved around the world, like Barcelona and Manchester United,' said Scolari.

'It's a surprise for me that people say Chelsea are unpopular, because when we went to China they cry for Chelsea, they love Chelsea. It's a big surprise people don't like us in England.

'In Russia, in Malaysia, it's better, but maybe not yet in Brazil or South America. Chelsea is a club that is a growing name. If we win one or two big competitions I'm sure we will have fans all over the world.

'Maybe it won't be the same as Madrid, Manchester or Milan because our history is not the same and you don't make a history in two, three or ten years. Maybe in 20 or 50 years Chelsea will be on that level.'
