Hutton £9m deal with Spurs almost done, says Rangers boss Smith

Alan Hutton is on the brink of completing his £9million transfer from Rangers to Tottenham.

Rangers manager Walter Smith believes a deal for the 23-year-old Scotland defender is almost done, and it could be completed this afternoon.

Smith said: "He's currently in London and I think the clubs and Alan Hutton have all reached agreement.

"It would look as though after the remaining formalities that he will join Spurs."

Sources close to the player had previously suggested that, with his partner expecting the couple's second child in the coming months, Hutton was determined to remain at Ibrox until the summer at least, although Rangers were thought to be keen to cash in on him now.
