Undecided: Rangers full back Alan Hutton is uncertain about a move to Tottenham
Offered £33,000 a week plus the lure of a £1million golden goodbye from Rangers, the 23-year-old went to London on Sunday for a whistle-stop tour of White Hart Lane.
Returning to Glasgow yesterday, however, the Scotland star trained as normal before leaving Murray Park tight-lipped - offering no indication to the Rangers management of his intentions.
With time ticking until the close of the transfer window on Thursday night, the impasse leaves manager Walter Smith with little notion of how much cash is available to strengthen his squad with late arrivals.
Reports of a third Spurs offer last night remained unconfirmed as Hutton continued to procrastinate.
Sources close to the player suggest that, with his partner expecting the couple's second child in the coming months, Hutton is determined to remain at Ibrox until the summer at least, although Rangers have not yet given up hope of cashing in.
Tottenham did sign one defender yesterday, though, when they agreed a deal with Middlesbrough for Jonathan Woodgate.
