I don't want to play for Wolves anymore, I'd prefer Cardiff City, insists Eastwood

Wolves’s transfer-listed striker Freddy Eastwood insists he will not return to Molineux next season and has his sights set on a move to Cardiff City.

Eastwood was signed by Wolves manager Mick McCarthy last summer from Southend United for £1.5 million.

But the move did not work out with Eastwood left on the fringes despite being a crowd favourite at Molineux.

Eastwood was a target for Coventry City but now their manager Chris Coleman has cooled his interest in the player.

Cardiff are now favourites to sign the Wales striker but former Wolves manager Dave Jones has yet to make a bid for the 24-year-old although Eastwood wants a move sorted out before pre-season training.

“I don’t want to be going back to Wolves knowing I am not going to play,”  said Eastwood.

“I want to go to a club where I’m part of things and I’ll have a chance. That hasn’t been the case for me at Wolves.

“Sometimes it happens when managers buy players and it doesn’t work out.

"I can’ t see me being there in August. I need to get away from Wolves and play.

"Cardiff would be a very good move for me.

“They would be attractive  to anyone. They got to the FA Cup final last year and they have got a lot of good young players - you only have to look at the Welsh squad to see  that."

Eastwood was surprised to be put on the transfer list after only a year: “It has been strange all season because the fans have been very supportive,” he said.

“I don’t think they want me to go, so it’s disappointing when the manager thinks otherwise.

“I like the club but when  the manager makes a call like that, it’s time to  move on.”
