French superstar Thierry Henry, formerly of , claimed yesterday he was a huge fan of Scottish football and criticised those who say the pool of talent north of the border has dried up.
Henry, speaking at Barcelona's training base in St Andrews, highlighted the skills of 's Barry Robson during the Spanish giants' stay at the home of golf last year when they played Dundee United and Hearts.
J'adore L'Ecosse: Thiery Henry is impressed with Scotland's playing pool
The powerful midfielder went on to win a move to Celtic and scored when Barca visited Parkhead on Champions League duty.
And, despite many doom-mongers ridiculing the Frenchman for his comments 12 months ago, Henry is adamant there is further Tartan talent out there to lend a certain 'va-va-voom' to Scotland's forthcoming World Cup qualifying campaign.
'Scottish people think they have no good players but last season I picked him (Robson) because I saw talent there,' Henry said.
'I expect that when we play against United and Hibs this time I will see more players who have a lot of ability.'
Henry's comments come after one of the most positive seasons ever for Scottish football and the Frenchman sees no reason why this should not continue.
In a Sportsmail interview today, he says he expects George Burley's men to reach the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa.
