ICC attempt to allay players' fears over playing Champions Trophy in Pakistan

World cricket bosses are due to visit England, Australia and New Zealand in an attempt to convince worried players they should take part in next month's Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

An International Cricket Council 'task force' is said to have decided Pakistan can hold the two-week event in safety after reviewing security measures in the country.

But ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat admits it will be difficult to persuade anxious players to travel after recent bomb blasts.

He said: 'It is a big challenge and it's upon us to raise the confidence based on what we have seen and experienced.'

Kevin Pietersen, now England captain, is among a number of high-profile players to have expressed reservations about visiting Pakistan, while New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori hopes his country's cricket officials will make a decision rather than leave it up to team members.
