I’ll finish Audley Harrison in our title fight, says David Haye

David Haye has vowed to end Audley Harrison's career after announcing today he will defend his WBA heavyweight title against the Olympic gold medallist.

Haye will take on Harrison at the MEN Arena in Manchester on 13 November after failing to agree terms with either of the Klitschko brothers for a world title unification fight.

WBC champion Vitali, 38, will instead face American Shannon Briggs on 16 October while IBF‑WBO king Wladimir, 34, boxes Nigerian Samuel Peter on Saturday.

Harrison's career has failed to live up to his own hype since he won Olympic gold in 2000. Although he took the European crown in April, Haye admits that the 38-year-old lacks credibility as a challenger.

"I don't think he deserves to fight me," said the 29-year-old. "I don't think he's done enough in his career — but I'm happy to do my duty for the British people.

"The public want to see one final high-profile destruction of Audley Harrison, and I can assure them this will be the last time they ever see him in a boxing ring."

Harrison countered: "If David Haye thinks I've taken this fight strictly for a payday, he is in for a rude awakening."
