I'm finding this new F1 jargon a bit tyresome

However, I suspect it's more that as Formula One gets evermore transparent, with us mere mortals regularly hearing the team radios chattering away during a Grand Prix, you'll soon need a modern-day Enigma Machine to just understand what is being discussed!
"Sebastian, we are still on Plan B," came the crackly message from his race engineer midway through the Malaysian race. As the youngest ever world champion went on to take the win, he later radioed to his crew to tell them: "I'm in Phase One but starting to enter Phase Two."
Meanwhile, his team-mate Mark Webber was clearly doing something totally different on track as he confirmed to his crew that he was "still on Plan A"!
If you were sitting on your sofa, scratching your head and feeling rather confused while tucking into your toast early on Sunday morning, you were not alone.
I was in the paddock watching effervescent Eddie Jordan allow a perplexed look to creep over his face. Teams weren't so cryptic in his day! So what is this coded chatter all about? Put simply it's about Formula One teams scrabbling to keep control of a sport becoming evermore uncontrollable, and it all stems from the tyres.
Although they seem like a relatively insignificant part of an F1 car compared to the millions spent on aerodynamics and engines, the four black lumps of rubber are all that connect the car to the track.
This year, Pirelli are supplying tyres that degrade quickly, and do so in a linear way before suddenly dropping "off a cliff" as one team memorably put it.
This can make the car suddenly almost un-driveable and offering a situation where one driver's tyres have suffered so badly, a slower car behind can quickly catch and pass.
All this is being done in the name of exciting racing. As well as asking drivers to throw their cars around the track at up to 200mph, they are also expected to give constant feedback and updates on how the car is performing. Using code so they don't give away secrets to their rivals.
We now believe Plan A was referring to Sebastian stopping three times during the Grand Prix, and Phase Two likely to be the stage where tyres start struggling. This Sunday we are in Shanghai for race three of the year. Keep your ears open for the chatter from the drivers to their team on the pitwall and we'll do our best to decipher the action as it unfolds.
One thing I do know, however, Plan B seems to be working for Sebastian Vettel.
Two races, two wins, he's already starting to dance to the tune of back-to-back titles.
