I'm not fearing for my job and I will deal with rebellious Ben Haim, blasts Chelsea boss Avram Grant

Avram Grant insists he has no fears over losing his job at the end of the season and says Chelsea should consider themselves lucky to be challenging for the Premier League and Champions League titles.

Chelsea's Israeli boss, whose position has become increasingly unstable after Monday's draw with Wigan, believes he has worked miracles to ensure Chelsea finish within touching distance of Manchester United.

Chelsea were five points adrift of Arsenal when he took over at Stamford Bridge - the lead Manchester United currently have over the Blues - and Grant is adamant that he was never given a fair chance to impress.

Biting back: Chelsea manager Avram Grant insists he is not fearing the sack

Chelsea face Everton tomorrow night, their second game inside four days, and the west London club will be hoping to move within two points of Manchester United, a feat that Grant believes should have been beyond his side.

"Realistically, we never had a chance from the moment I arrived because we were behind the leaders," he said.

"I think the pressure is on us but we've come from nowhere to fight for the title.

"I'm not even thinking about my future, even if I have a contract. If the club are happy with me then I'll continue. There's no issue.

Chance gone: Heskey (second from right) equalises for Wigan to dent Chelsea's title hopes

"It's important that I do my job for Chelsea, nobody has told me I must deliver a trophy but I want to.

"In football anything can happen. I won't stop fighting until it's impossible to win and if United succeed then I'll be the first to congratulate them."

Grant has also promised to take action against defender Tal Ben Haim after the player criticised his manager by stating he would never have joined the club had he known that his compatriot would take over from Jose Mourinho.

Grant said: "It is an internal matter and we will deal with it like this - we know we need to hear from the player first if it is true or not.

"I don't think Jose promised Tal Ben-Haim that he would play before John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex but maybe yes. I will ask Tal.

"It is internal business but in my opinion if the player was wrong we need to deal with it in my way."
