Ireland can go out with a bang, says skipper

There is nothing at stake except pride but Ireland captain Trent Johnston has labelled today's Super Eight showdown against Bangladesh as "huge".

Two days after being routed for 91 by a rampant Australia, the Irish return to action in Barbados determined to round off in style a tournament that started so sensationally.

Scroll down to read more:

"It would mean everything to beat Bangladesh," said Johnston, whose side have been outclassed in the Super Eights following their stunning win against Pakistan and draw with Zimbabwe that enabled them to qualify.

"We have come here to put Irish cricket on the map and this is a huge game for us. This is the one we had marked down as the one we could win."

Ireland are likely to be boosted by the return of Andre Botham, whose accurate medium-pace bowling and middle-order batting have been sorely missed in crushing defeats against New Zealand and Australia.
