Irish dog Tyrur Kieran in 1m Wimbledon Greyhound Derby bid

Tyrur Kieran will be on course for a £1million bonus, put up by online bookies IbetX, for his owner P J Fahy and a unique treble if he lands the Greyhound Derby Final at Wimbledon tonight, to add to his Scottish Derby victory in April.

The black dog, trained like fellow finalist Tyrur Laurel, in Co. Kilkenny by Paul Hennessy, would then head to Dublin in September for the Irish version with the chance to become the first dog to land the 'Grand Slam'.

Loyal Honcho, last year's Derby second and the eldest in the field, and Kryptonite, who bids to be the first winner from trap one since the Final was moved to Wimbledon from White City in 1985, complete the Irish party.

However, Kryptonite has been in the care of veteran Newark-based trainer Charlie Lister, who is looking for his fifth Derby winner, since coming across the Irish Sea.

Blonde Dino, born, reared and trained in Essex by John Mullins, is probably the best English hope.

He had a stellar year in 2007, recording some of the fastest times ever seen, including a world record when clocking 27.81sec in a 480 metres race.

Lenson Express makes up the field and would be a popular winner as his owner, Len Ponder, is a regular at Wimbledon where he has had the same table in the restaurant for years.
