It's good to talk: Warring Daley and Aldridge bury the hatchet

Tom Daley and Blake Aldridge were back in synch in Beijing, the hatchet buried after Aldridge's bitter accusations against his partner after their last place finish in Monday's synchronized platform diving.

The two watched their team-mates Tonia Couch and Stacie Powell emulate their performance by finishing last in the same event at the Water Cube on Tuesday, but the two men who share a room in the Athletes's Village had made up already.

Aldridge sought out Daley's father, Rob, at the British Olympic Association's lodge where parents of competitors can meet them, and the two shook hands.

'Blake will be staying here with the team to support Tom in his individual competition next week. The feeling is that it was all blown out of proportion,' said diving team spokesman Dave Richards.

'What was said within the team will remain within the team, and whether anything will be done will be something that will not be decided until we are home after the Games.'

However, Leon Taylor, won a diving silver medal at Athens, questioned Aldridge's decision to telephone his mother halfway through the competition, saying: 'It's certainly not something I would have done'.

Aldridge, 26, was unlikely to be partnered with Daley in the build-up to 2012 because of his age and Daley's greater potential for improvement.

It is expected that another younger diver will be chosen to start training with him in the autumn.
