I've signed Henry, claims Barca chief

Barcelona president Joan Laporte started his annual summer rumour campaign over Thierry Henry by claiming that the Spanish giants have already signed the French striker.

Laporte claimed that Barcelona have agreed a £15m deal for the 29-year-old.

He made his claim during a speech in America at Stamford University when he said: "I'm closing the signing of Henry."

The Frenchman (pictured above) has endured a frustrating season at Arsenal, which has been cut short by injury.

Arsenal travel to Portsmouth for the final game of the season and could finish third should they better Liverpool's result on Sunday.

While much of Wenger's focus over the summer is likely to be on the appointment of a director of football, following the departure of vicechairman David Dein, as well as strengthening the squad, speculation continues over the plans of American billionaire Stan Kroenke.

The US entrepreneur recently increased his stake in the Gunners' parent holdings company to 12.19 per cent.

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood has been trying to arrange a face-to-face meeting with the American, but so far no date has been fixed.
