Jamie comes a cropper in the doubles despite his new look

Jamie Murray’s blossoming doubles partnership with Max Mirnyi came to a juddering halt after the pair lost in straight sets to the second seeds.
The Scot’s new close-cropped look — his brother Andy and mother Judy had nagged him over his previous straggling locks — clearly did nothing for his game.
Shorn of his strength? Jamie Murray lost out in the doubles after ditching his shaggy look
The older Murray boy had been hoping the haircut would boost his bid to make better progress than he did 12 months ago with Eric Butorac, but the much-fancied Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic had other ideas.
Murray’s opponents are recognised as among the best in the world, despite being a new pairing, and class told as the Canadian and the Serb reached the quarter-final thanks to a 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 victory.
The Scot, winner of the mixed doubles last year with Jelena Jankovic, was hoping he and Mirnyi could build on their second-round win over Jamie Cerretani and Victor Hanescu. Murray had claimed he was ‘beginning to settle’ with the big-hitting Belarussian.
But they rarely threatened in a game that always seemed beyond them on Court Three. They were broken twice in the opening set and were seldom in it after that.
