Ram raider: New Derby signing Robbie Savage
"He's one of those players that opposition supporters love to hate but you're glad is on your team.
"I guess he's got history with every supporter in the country!"
Savage, 33, became a hate figure among Derby fans when he played for bitter rivals Leicester but he hopes they will not hold any grudges.
He said: "They can just judge me on my performances for Derby and not what's gone on in the past."
Someone else he will have to win over is defender Danny Mills who could be joining him at Pride Park.
The last time Savage spoke to Mills was during a game between Birmingham and Middlesbrough four years ago, when the former England defender took exception to a heavy tackle by Savage and grabbed him by the throat.
That led to a heated exchange of words between the players.
Derby have also agreed terms with Rangers to take goalkeeper Roy Carroll on loan for the rest of the season, and hope to complete the signing of Tottenham misfit Hossam Ghaly.
