John Terry anger over Carlos Tevez spitting row

John Terry today denied he spat at Carlos Tevez during the Champions League Final but could still face an investigation from UEFA.

Tevez initially claimed the incident took place during the same melee which saw Didier Drogba sent off for slapping Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.

But Terry said: "There was some pushing and shoving, I admit that. But no spitting, that is not my style. No way would I spit at another player."

However, UEFA could still step in depending on Slovakian referee Lubos Michel's match report.

UEFA spokesman William Gaillard said: "We must wait for the report from the referee and the UEFA delegate.

"If the referee says he saw the incident and that the player did not spit then that would be the end of the matter. But if he says he did not see the incident we will go back to the video images."

Tevez is now trying to play down the row and said: "I do not understand the attitude of Terry. He told me that I was not a sportsman because I would not put the ball out. For me, this is a forgotten subject now."
