Parisse is the kind of forward team manager Johnson would love to include in his squad but no one in English rugby can match the Italian's heady mix of physical power and outstanding ball skills which have earned the 25-year-old the captaincy of big-spending Stade Francais. Having suffered defeats by Australia, South Africa and New Zealand at Twickenham in November, Johnson cannot afford to allow Italy a first win at the home of English rugby and will target Parisse.

As the figurehead of the most fashionable club in world rugby and having Miss Europe, Alexandra Rosenfeld, as his girlfriend, Parisse is used to dealing with the limelight. However, Ewan McKenzie, the Australian World Cup-winning prop and Stade's head coach, insists that his captain remains totally focused on rugby.

McKenzie said: "I don't think there is anyone in the England squad who has the same skill set as Sergio.

"If he was playing for New Zealand he would be their No6 and if it was Australia then he could wear the No8 jersey. He is an outstanding rugby player."
