Jol's position untenable at 'disorganised' Spurs, says former defender

Former Tottenham defender John Scales believes Martin Jol's position as Tottenham manager has become "untenable".

Spurs are stuck in the bottom three of the Premier League after losing 3-1 to Newcastle at St James' park on Monday.

They have just one top flight victory to their credit so far this season and have conceded 21 goals in ten games.

Scales, who also played for Liverpool and Wimbledon, believes enough is enough but believes the White Hart Lane board must carry some of the blame for the poor start to the season after courting Seville coach Juande Ramos in August.

"There has to be a change now because it's become a totally untenable situation," said the former Tottenham centre-half.

"It has led us to a point where Jol is a dead man walking. It does just seem a matter of time. The board have clearly indicated they haven't got any confidence in him because they've looked elsewhere.

"That critically undermines the players' confidence in the club. The club are disorganised and it's sad because they've got a great squad."
