Jose text heals Terry rift

Chelsea captain John Terry was given hope of a peace pact with Jose Mourinho yesterday when he received a "get well soon" message from his former manager.

Terry, 26, has been upset by accusations he was partly to blame for Mourinho's departure and that he has fallen out with team-mates such as Didier Drogba as a result.

Joy of text: Mourinho

But yesterday Terry, who is expected to be out for four weeks after a knee operation to remove a piece of floating bone, had a glut of text messages and was delighted to find one from Mourinho saying: "Speedy recovery".

A source close to Terry said: "JT's buzzing. This meant a lot to him."

The fall-out from Drogba's declaration that he intends to quit Chelsea descended into farce last night as manager Avram Grant ducked the opportunity to rebuke his striker.

Drogba insisted this week that he will leave, saying "something is broken with Chelsea" now Mourinho is gone.

But despite Chelsea conceding Drogba's threat was real, Grant claimed he had not had the chance to speak to his forward, who got back from Ivory Coast duty on Thursday.

Grant said: "It is not the first time Didier has said he wants to leave but I have not seen him yet. I need to talk to him. I don't like to speak about players in public, I like to discuss with them. I will let you know if I talk to him."

Drogba added to the confusion yesterday by claiming he "regretted" his comments and would support Grant "100 per cent", but then confirming he would discuss his future with Chelsea in the summer.
