Judo star will throw everything into attack

Judo star Craig Fallon believes a strategy of all-out attack is his best chance of securing Britain's first gold medal at the 2008 Olympics.

The 25-year-old is among the favourites to win tomorrow night's extra lightweight (60kg) category final after recent wins in Birmingham, Baku and Vienna.

The Wolverhampton fighter said: "Judo is a reaction sport. The best players can react to what the opponent is throwing. If you are just waiting for him then you are not going to be able to produce your own judo. Attack is the best form of defence."

Fallon was also tipped for a medal in Athens only to be knocked out in the second round by Greek fighter Revazi Zintiridis. His biggest rival for gold tomorrow is Austria's Ludwig Paischer, who won the European championships in April.

Fallon added: "I have not thought about the expectation much. I am looking forward to fighting and we will see how things go - hopefully I can put in a good performance.

"I am not putting any expectation on myself. Judo is an unpredictable sport. I am just going to take one round at a time."
