Tottenham are among the top Premier League clubs who have been put on red alert after discovering Holland international Rafael van der Vaart has refused a new contract at Hamburg.

The former Ajax midfielder has previously been linked with Spurs and Arsenal and they could test the Bundesliga side's resolve to keep the 24-year-old, even though he says he is not looking to move at the moment.

Van der Vaart has also indicated he would love to play in Serie A, adding: "I've heard Juventus are interested and I can imagine myself playing there."
