Keane hopeful of O'Donovan deal

Sunderland boss Roy Keane looks to be closing in on the signing of prolific Cork City striker Roy O'Donovan.

Keane has revealed he is still in talks with his fellow Irishman, who missed last night's friendly between the two clubs with an ankle injury.

O'Donovan looked set for a move to Fulham but failed to undergo a scheduled medical with the Cottagers and the Black Cats are now favourites to sign him.

Keane told the Sunderland Echo: "Talks are ongoing at the moment and we're hoping we'll all be happy by the end of the week.

"Roy, ourselves and Cork City are all involved and hopefully we'll have things sorted one way or the other in the next day or two.

"I really don't want to go into it too much because it is ongoing and until the players signs on the dotted line, you never know if it's going to happen.

"So we hope in the next few days that everyone will be happy with how things work out."
