Koumas happy to stay at West Brom

West Brom have been reassured by Jason Koumas' agent that the midfielder will not hand in a transfer request should the club deny him a move to the Barclays Premier League.

Wales international Koumas is keen on a return to the top-flight following Baggies' failure in the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final last month.

Happy at the Hawthorns: Jason Koumas

Newly-promoted Birmingham and Fulham have both had joint bids for him and striker Diomansy Kamara rejected, while Wigan's £4million offer for Koumas was also dismissed.

The players' agent Peter McIntosh insists Koumas will be more than willing to stay at The Hawthorns should Albion decide to keep hold of him.

"Jason is away on holiday so he certainly won't be slapping in a transfer request," McIntosh told the Birmingham Mail.

"And it would never happen anyway. Jason had his difficulties with the club in the past but that was all forgiven last summer and since then his relationship with chairman Jeremy Peace and manager Tony Mowbray has gone from strength to strength.

"He is happy at West Brom but he has made no secret of the fact that he wants to play in the Premier League. But if West Brom say he is not going anywhere, he won't be going anywhere and will report back for pre-season with the rest of the squad.

"The bottom line is Jason is under contract at West Brom for two more years so until West Brom accept a bid for Jason we will stay in the background and wait to see what happens.

"Once they have accepted a bid and given Jason Koumas permission to speak to clubs, that is where we will come in and get involved."
