Lampard ban will be lifted as ref admits red-card clanger

Lampard was shown the red card after assistant referee Guy Beale claimed the midfielder was guilty of violent conduct by pushing West Ham midfielder Luis Boa Morte in the chest.
Chelsea made a stand yesterday when they appealed against the decision that would rule Lampard out of the FA Cup-tie against Barnsley and the Barclays Premier League clashes with Sunderland and Derby.

Walton dismissed Lampard, but the referee has since reviewed the match video and told FA chiefs in his report that he has made a mistake.
It was also revealed yesterday that Andy D'Urso has admitted he was wrong to send off Stoke's Andy Griffin for a tackle he now believes was worthy of a yellow card in City's 3-0 defeat at QPR over the weekend.
Referees are instructed to issue straight red cards for violent conduct, but Chelsea will argue in written submissions today that his shove did not warrant a dismissal.
The FA's four-man judicial commission, comprised of county FA affiliates and an ex-professional, will meet at Soho Square today, but Lampard is expecting a reprieve.
Although he had been warned his ban could be increased in the wake of a 'frivolous' appeal by Middlesbrough's Jeremie Aliadiere, there is a clear distinction between the offences.
Chelsea's lawyers argue Lampard's shove did not constitute violent conduct in the same way that the Boro striker cuffed Liverpool's Javier Mascherano around the head the previous weekend.
Dismissed: But Lampard's red card will be recinded
Although Lampard's red card — the second of his career — cannot be expunged from the records, he will not have to serve his three-match ban when the commission upholds the appeal. Although Chelsea are nervous about the findings, it has more to do with the nature of their previous appeals.
John Mikel Obi (sent off at Manchester United), Michael Essien (Derby) and Ashley Cole (Aston Villa) have appealed against dismissals this season, but all have been rejected.
The only successful appeal by a Premier League player so far this season has been from Lee Bowyer but Lampard can also expect good news later today.
Humiliation: Shevchenko playing for Chelsea Reserves last night
Team-mate Andriy Shevchenko suffered the ultimate humiliation last night when he was forced to play for Chelsea's reserves against Brentford's second string.
Sportsmail revealed last week that the £30million striker had played in a scratch side beaten by the youth team, but his appearance for the second string was another indignity.
Incredibly, the £130,000 a week misfit was made skipper in the Barclays Reserve League South clash at Griffin Park, but that will have done little to lift his spirits. The Ukraine skipper has not played in the Premier League since the 4-4 draw with Aston Villa on Boxing Day and his prospects of a return to the first team are bleak.
Shevchenko's unhappy spell in England is expected to end in May. He has been told he can leave if a club will match his salary and he has already been targeted by several clubs.
Milan still retain an interest, but Shevchenko, who has an American wife, is contemplating a move to the MLS in the U.S.A.
Chelsea hope to confirm in the next few days that they will play in a Moscow tournament. They are expected to travel to China in July and will fly to Moscow on the weekend of August 2/3 for a tournament including PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and one other side.
