Last Liverpool player to score at Stamford Bridge was ...

French flop Bruno Cheyrou was the last Liverpool player to score at Stamford Bridge way back on 7 January 2004 in their 1-0 Premier League win.

Described as the "new Zinedine Zidane" by manager Gerard Houllier when he lavished £4.5million on the midfielder from Lille in 2002, Cheyrou failed to live up to the hype.

He made only 17 Premier League starts for Liverpool in his three years at the club and scored five goals in all competitions.

His 33rd-minute strike against Chelsea was one of four goals that season, but it was still not enough to see him stay on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, as he was hauled off for John Arne Riise, who headed past his own goalkeeper last night.

During the end of his Liverpool career, Cheyrou was shipped out on loan to Marseille and then Bordeaux where he again failed to impress.

The 29-year-old now trots out for Rennes when he is playing regular football for the mid-table French side.
