Le Sulk is back as Anelka digs heels in over Chelsea move
10 January 2008
Nicholas Anelka's reputation as Le Sulk could seal his move from Bolton to Chelsea.
• More Premier League news club by club
The striker went to see his boss Gary Megson yesterday and demanded a move to Stamford Bridge this week, as confirmed by one of his representatives today.
Doug Pingisi said: "Nicolas really wants to go to Chelsea.
"He hopes everything will be finalised this week. He has been waiting for such an opportunity for years and appreciates that he is at the top of the list of players wanted by Chelsea at the moment."
Anelka's attitude at Bolton has been exemplary since he joined in August 2006 but the club risk a return of the difficult behaviour which earned him his nickname if negotiations drag on.
They turned down Chelsea's £11million offer and are holding out for £15m but Chelsea feel they have the upper hand in negotiations after Bolton's attempt to create a bidding war for the Frenchman failed.
Meanwhile, John Obi Mikel will serve his four-game suspension while at the African Nations' Cup. The midfielder was hit with the ban after being sent off for a studs-up challenge on Everton's Phil Neville on Tuesday.
Football Association rules state that a player who receives a straight red is banned from that moment - unless the club lodges an appeal, and Chelsea have not.
