Lee blow worsens Spurs crisis

Tottenham's UEFA Cup hopes have suffered a blow with the news that defender Young-Pyo Lee could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

It has been reported in South Korea that the full back tore a ligament in his left knee in the first leg of their quarter-final against Sevilla last week.

The club have yet to confirm the problem but Lee is sure to be ruled out of the second leg at least, leaving manager Martin Jol with a defensive crisis at White Hart Lane in two days' time.

Jol was forced to play right back Pascal Chimbonda alongside Michael Dawson in central defence last week as Ricardo Rocha is cup-tied in Europe.

He may have to continue with the partnership and, with Lee absent, he could be without an experienced full back.

The Dutchman is hoping captain Ledley King could play in the centre, but it may be a major risk as he has gone nearly four months without playing a game after injuries to both feet.

That leaves youngster Philip Ifil, who has been named in the club's last two squads, to possibly fill in on one of the flanks with Paul Stalteri taking the other.

Tottenham have high hopes of progressing after losing the first leg in Spain 2-1, following an early strike from Robbie Keane.

However, a makeshift back four will make their task more difficult.
