Lee Westwood’s challenge blown off course in US

Lee Westwood was leading the first round of the Houston Open when strong winds forced play to be abandoned.

Westwood, competing in the third group of the day at Redstone Golf Club, was fourunder-par through nine holes, two ahead of a group of eight players.

Play had been delayed by two and a half hours due to thunderstorms and Westwood said: "I could probably have done a little better but I'm please to be four under, especially in those conditions."
