Leeds' Nicholls is a man in demand

Preston will rival Luton for £700,000 former Leeds captain Kevin Nicholls once Elland Road is open for transfer business again on June 1 following a creditors' meeting to agree Ken Bates' survival plan.

Nicholls may favour a return to his old club, now managed by Kevin Blackwell - the former Leeds boss who signed him last season - but Preston's Paul Simpson will offer a chance to reach the top flight.
