Lee's first win as boss marred by Gardner injury

Sammy Lee's delight at securing his first win as Bolton manager was tempered with news that Ricardo Gardner will miss the start of the season with a torn hamstring.

Bolton outclassed the Peace Cup favourites Chivas with a 2-0 victory in Seoul with goals from Zoltan Harsanyi and Kevin Nolan.

Lee said: "It does feel good to get my first win as manager - the only way is up now."

However, Lee's thoughts turned to Jamaica left back Gardner, who will be out of action for up to six weeks after turning awkwardly during Thursday's first match.

Lee said: "The scan revealed he has a grade one tear of his hamstring, which is a great shame for Ricardo."

Defender Nicky Hunt has escaped a Premier League suspension for his sending-off last week after Bolton paid a £500 fine.

Bolton face Racing Santander in their final group game on Tuesday in GoYang.
